Scout Island Programs
Scout Island offers quality outdoor instruction that addresses academic standards and environmental principles. Scout Island outings can be single-day stand-alone trips or multiple-day science camps designed to replace the costly expense of overnight trips. Our activities foster a more complete understanding of our current watershed issues.
Leadership and Teamwork
We partner with Safe and Healthy Kids to provide the high ropes course which provides participants space to practice leadership and get immediate feedback on how they are doing. View more information at the S&HK's website.
Single-Day Trips
We offer exciting single-day field trips where students can participate in a collection of our Scout Island Investigations. Single-day field trips begin at 9:00am and end at 2:00pm. However, because of some school districts bus schedules, classes may stay until 3:30pm, with prior approval.
Most field trips consist of three Scout Island Investigations.
To maintain an excellent interactive and hands on outdoor setting classes are broken up into groups of 20-25 students. For more information contact us.
Do not hesitate to call with questions. We will do our best to organization a trip that meets your needs.
Multi-Day Trips
Multiple-Day field trips offer activities that foster a more complete understanding of our environment and current watershed issues. Participants of the Multiple-Day Sixth Grade Science Camp receive a similar camp experience within the City of Fresno along the San Joaquin River Riparian Corridor without the hassles and high cost of overnight camp fees and travel expenses. These camps are not limited to sixth grade classes but may be experienced by students in grades 2-12.
Learning Modules at Scout Island
All Activities are Phenomenon‐based, support NGSS by offering local, environmentally‐based, real‐life science and engineering opportunities. Nearly all activities support the Environmental Principles and Concepts and partially provide the annual 40 hours of outdoor environmental education recommended by the California’s Blue Print for Environmental Literacy.
